Hey there, it’s Winston. Late last year, New Mexico Writers, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and connecting the state’s literary community, opened up for submissions to their annual competition called the New Mexico Book Awards:
The New Mexico Book Awards, a nearly two-decades-old book competition, is in its second year under management by New Mexico Writers. The competition’s mission is, in the words of Paul Rhetts, founder of the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards, “to uncover and honor the best in New Mexico books.”
Authors, designers, publishers, and publicists from New Mexico (or any book with a creative connection to New Mexico) may enter the New Mexico Book Awards.
I submitted Storyletter XPress Publishing’s debut anthology, Take Me There: A Speculative Anthology of Travel, which secured top place in two categories at the 2026 New Mexico Book Awards: Best Anthology and Best Cover Design. It also placed as a finalist in the Debut Book by a Publisher category.
